New Bluefish regulations took effect January 1, 2026, increasing possession limits for anglers. The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission approved these new coastwide recreational fishing management measures in August 2025, for the 2026 and 2027 bluefish fishery.
New measures are as follows:
- 5 bluefish for private boat and shore-based anglers
- 7 bluefish for for-hire anglers .
There is no closed season nor size limit.
